Itinerary

Day 01 :
Tsagaan Suvarga Cliff

Distance: 470 km (Approx. 6 hours)

Your guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Ulaanbaatar at 08:00 AM before driving south to the spectacular Tsagaan Suvarga (White Stupa) Cliff.

This ancient limestone formation was once the floor of a prehistoric sea. Its colorful sedimentary layers create a dramatic landscape resembling the ruins of an ancient city.

Enjoy an afternoon hike around the cliffs and admire one of Mongolia's most impressive geological wonders.

Day 02 :
Yol Gorge (Vulture Valley)

After breakfast, continue to Yol Gorge, located inside Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park.

Walk through the narrow canyon surrounded by towering rock walls, where snow and ice often remain until mid-summer. Visit the nearby Natural History Museum to learn about the wildlife and geology of the Gobi.

Enjoy a scenic hike through this beautiful valley.

Day 03 :
Khongor Sand Dunes (Singing Sands)

Travel to the magnificent Khongor Sand Dunes, the largest sand dunes in Mongolia.

Stretching nearly 100 km long and reaching heights of 300 meters, these dunes are famous for the mysterious "singing" sound created by shifting sands during windy conditions.

Enjoy a memorable camel ride with local nomads and climb one of the giant dunes for breathtaking panoramic views.

Day 04 :
Bayanzag (Flaming Cliffs)

Drive to the legendary Bayanzag, internationally known as the Flaming Cliffs.

This is one of the world's most important dinosaur fossil sites, where explorer Roy Chapman Andrews discovered dinosaur eggs and fossils, including the famous Protoceratops.

Walk among the striking red sandstone cliffs and enjoy spectacular sunset photography.

Day 05 :
Ongi Monastery Ruins

Continue to the historic Ongi Monastery, once one of the largest Buddhist monasteries in the Gobi Desert.

Destroyed during the communist purges of 1937, the monastery ruins still tell the story of Mongolia's spiritual heritage.

Visit the small local museum, explore the surviving temple, and hike around the monastery ruins.

Day 06 :
Nomadic Family Experience & Karakorum

After breakfast, visit a traditional Mongolian nomadic family.

Experience authentic nomadic life by participating in daily activities and learning about Mongolia's unique culture and hospitality.

Continue to Karakorum, the ancient capital of the Mongol Empire founded by Chinggis Khaan.

Visit:

  • Erdene Zuu Monastery
  • Karakorum Museum
  • Historical monuments and archaeological sites

Day 07 :
Khustai National Park & Return to Ulaanbaatar

Travel to Khustai National Park, home to the rare Takhi (Przewalski's Wild Horse), the world's last truly wild horse species.

Enjoy a scenic hike while searching for wild horses, red deer, marmots, and other wildlife.

After exploring the park, return to Ulaanbaatar, where you will be transferred to your accommodation.
